He is working on leash manners, potty training and not jumping on people.  Henry very much enjoys playtime with his foster siblings, after he wears one out he moves on to his next playmate!  He also loves a good game of fetch.  Henry will be a fun and loving companion for a lucky family!

]]> http://www.cincinnatilabrescue.org/stella/feed/ 0 Daisy http://www.cincinnatilabrescue.org/daisy/ http://www.cincinnatilabrescue.org/daisy/#comments Mon, 13 May 2013 03:42:04 +0000 admin http://www.cincinnatilabrescue.org/?p=2422 Continue reading →]]> Our dear mama Daisy was found wandering with her mate,  CLR alum, Champ.  They were eating from a dumpster when a good samaritan found them and took them to a shelter.  It was discovered that Daisy was soon expecting puppies, so a plea was sent out to local rescues.  CLR answered that plea as soon as we could, but had to wait until their 5 day stray hold expired.  Sweet Daisy gave birth to her 8 puppies alone in the shelter two days before we were able to get them.   Our volunteer arrived as soon as they could be released and they have received much tender loving care ever since!   Daisy is a wonderful mama to her babies and has a loving temperament.  She is tolerant of people playing with her pups, standing close by (sometimes in between!) to make sure they are safe.  She is approximately 2 years old.   Daisy will make a wonderful companion for any family.  As much as she loves her puppies, we are quite sure she is ready to be the center of attention!

Pippa is on the smaller side, weighing between 30-35 pounds, and fits very nicely on a lap!  She is very gentle and loving with small children and gets along well with other dogs.   Pippa will make the perfect companion for any family!

He was picked up as a stray and not claimed at the shelter. We can’t understand why! He has won the hearts of everyone he has met and one of his transporters said she almost took him home! He is sweet and listens very well. Percy walks great on a leash and gets along nicely with other dogs.  He will make a great companion to a lucky family.

Foster update 4/15: Percy is back with his foster mom.  His previous owners had to return him because of the illness of a family member. Percy has developed a case of separation anxiety due to his change in surroundings.  He is not destructive, just barks to let me know he doesn’t want me to leave him and barks when I return.   I am able to calm him down quickly.  He will need someone who has the patience to work through his fear.  He is being fostered with Carson and my 11 year old lab.  Percy loves to wrestle and chase Carson around the yard.  He also loves to lay in the yard and watch the birds and squirrels.  He doesn’t need to be crated.  He is so soft and fluffy.  Percy rides great in the car.  I take him everywhere I can because he is so sweet and well behaved.

He is also quite the ham and very photogenic!   Colt will make a great addition to any family!

 

Foster update 5/1:   Colt is doing great. He now goes to the door when he needs to potty and has had no accidents. He also goes right into his “bed” when it is time for us to go to work. He has improved with jumping up on you and we correct it with “no jump” and putting him down. He also sits very well when asked to.  Colt is eating with Sampson and Titan and not competing for food.

He loves to play in the backyard.  Colt is a snuggle bug and will fall asleep in your arms if you let him. He loves to follow you around when you clean or cook and if you take time to tell him what is going on he sits and watches with fixed interest…he wants to learn about his world.

He is ready to be a special family member for his forever family.

Foster update 5/4:  He is thriving.  The three meals seems to work well for him.   He is house broken,  does his business outside like a good boy should.  He has slept in my room since after the first night without an issue.  Last night I had him on the floor then when I go up to do my work in the middle of the night when they came back in from outside at 3am  he  curled up in the  middle of my bed with Duke, so when I was ready to go to bed I just left him there,  he got down after a few hours and went back to his pillow.  He is a puppy so I have to learn to put things like shoes away.  He hasn’t chewed them up but he carries them all over.  He is getting better at the Sit command. He has the hound nose and can smell very well.  Basically he is a very happy puppy.  He will make someone the perfect companion.

Update 4/15: Carson (right) has been in foster care for a couple of months and has come a long way.  He has mastered potty training.  He is being fostered with Percy (left) and an 11 year old lab.  He loves to wrestle, play and run around the yard with Percy.  When Carson plays too rough, Percy lets him know ankle biting is unacceptable. Carson is quick to settle down and take his favorite spot on the loveseat for a nice nap.  He rides great in the car and is happy to enjoy the ride.  He loves to snuggle and is small enough to be a lap dog.  If you are looking for a companion for your current dog, he or she must love to wrestle and run with other dogs.  Carson loves other dogs but not all dogs have his energy and zest for life.

(Think Betty White as a dog!)   Duchess loves to swim and would like a family she could have some fun with in her golden years.  Hopefully they can keep up with her!  She is a great girl and we all love her spunk.
