Barkley (now Oakley) was adopted from CLR 3.5 years ago, but his family recently reached out to us to surrender him. They have some family circumstances that have demanded their time, and they are too busy and have limited time to devote to him. He is a little over 5.5 years old and a healthy and active boy.
In his family’s words: Oakley is our Big lover boy. He only wants to be by your side in all that you do. Love and dedication are his main goals in life. He is so happy just to be around his family, no matter if you are playing on the swing set, taking long walks or runs, or even going for a car ride. He is incredible with Children and other animals (Dogs AND cats). Don’t let his size fool you he is a gentle giant. We have a 3 year old and 16 month old and he is patient and kind around them. Our 16 month old learned to stand by holding onto the couch and Oakley. He was always by her side. At night he can’t go to bed until the last person has gone upstairs. He is loyal!! He does show excitement when guests visit, yet he is extremely well trained. He has mastered sit, stay, off, go lay down, crate, outside, come…as with all dogs, he benefits from daily exercise. He isn’t sure about fetch…we have tried over the past 3 years but he would prefer not to have to leave your side for a ball 🙂 He feels most comfortable in a crate when you aren’t home. At night, He is a great dog and he would love a home where people will be around most of the time since he just loves being with his people.
He did have an eye injury which limits his vision in his one eye, but he compensates with his other eye and navigates well. CLR is hopeful he finds his new family very soon. Such a loving and wonderful dog deserves to settle in with his new family and know he will not have to endure any more changes.
