4/6/2021 UPDATE: Chica arrived safely to CLR two days ago. Check back soon for an update!
Hi everybody…I’m Chica! I’m 8 months old and weigh 31lbs. My brother and I arrived to Cincinnati Lab Rescue together after we were found stray in Marshall, KY. I love Diggs and look up to him SO much…I’m a little more shy than he is!
Our volunteers had a chance to get Chica and her brother out of the kennel shortly after they arrived, and she couldn’t be a sweeter girl! It’s difficult to gauge her full personality at this point; understandably, she’s still extremely timid and visibly nervous when first meeting humans. However, she grows more comfortable when being pet and shown affection. She melted right into our volunteers and was so snuggly – she’s a little lady, but she has the Lab lean down!
We’ve been told that Chica is friendly with other dogs. Given she’s both a puppy and a stray, she will require basic training. She was no paws on the ground (something we do to prevent puppies from picking up germs before they’re fully vaccinated!) so we weren’t able to see how she does on a leash, but with her smaller size and temperament we think she’ll be very manageable to walk and will learn quickly. We don’t know at this point whether Chica and Diggs are bonded siblings, but you can tell Chica looks to Diggs for confidence. We imagine they’ll adapt if adopted separately but would also be a great match for a family looking to add two dogs to their pack.
