To look at precious Destiny, one would never know she had a traumatic accident. She was found in Kentucky with her skull damage from either a falling tree or perhaps from potential abuse. There is a fragment of her skull missing and she has had some swelling, but the doctors got right to work and sutured her wounds. When we were contacted we felt privileged to be able to help her heal. She is only 4 years old, but in spite of her condition, she remains an incredibly sweet girl. Her transporters echoed the same message. They were actually surprised by her happy, playful personality. She appears to love people and was exceptionally friendly. From her exuberance, there didn’t seem to be any indication that she was temporarily compromised. She also met a cat in the shelter’s lobby, went nose-to-nose with the cat, took a sniff and just went on her way. She was also an excellent traveler and after a few minutes, settled comfortably in her crate.
The majority of her injuries should heal on their own, but she will need rest while she recovers. We are maintaining a regiment of pain medication and antibiotics to keep her comfortable and avoid any infections. Until we know she is completely healed, she will need periodic vet checks. For now, she appears to be well on her way to recovery, and the best medicine will always be a warm bed and a lot of love.
