We recently learned of the passing of a very special friend of CLR. His dads shared his tender passing:
We lost our little boy over 2 weeks ago. Our Howie died in his sleep the morning of September 14th. He woke me up at 5:30 sharp like usual. After I fed him and the others breakfast, we took our mile walk around the “hood”, and he laid down in his favorite spot by the front door where he always waited for me to finish my oatmeal so we could go to the park for our long morning walk. When I went to get him, he was gone. We had talked how we hoped the end would be like for him, as he always did, he tried his best to do what we wanted. We are so thankful that he went the way he did- not in a crisis, sick, of in pain. In his last few days, he got to do all his favorite things and see all his favorite people. It was an end that we would all hope for any of us.
Howie’s wonderful dads rescued him from being tied to an abandoned car 13 years ago. He was a perfect fit for them, and he was trained as a therapy dog bring joy to so many logging 300 hours at a local nursing home. His story and his family’s loss touches their friends at CLR and we share in their sadness. Rest in Peace, dear Howie. You were and will always be deeply loved.
