It is always so heartbreaking to learn that another one of CLR’s wonderful pups has crossed over the bridge. Ledger was such a special part of his family, and we share in their sadness. They were so devoted to Ledger and are struggling with the loss of their beautiful boy.
In their words: Ledger was a true original. He was the most loving dog I have known. He had some of the goofiest habits we have ever seen in a dog, and all endeared him to us even more. Ledger was diagnosed with IMHA in early November 2018. He battled that and recovered from surgery removing what turned out to be a benign tumor on his spleen. He was the best patient he could have been, and put up with a lot of meds for quite a while, with patience and grace. I actually think of him as a role model for living even when ill. Ledger rallied for a few months, and we are so thankful to have had the extra time with him. Eventually, the immunosuppressant he took for the IMHA allowed other issues, including a malignant tumor, to develop, and he declined to the point of having no quality of life. We were with him to the end. Although he was part of our family for 11 years, it wasn’t enough time. It never is. We miss him terribly, and I have tears as I write this. But I am very thankful for having him.
We can’t imagine a more loving tribute to Ledger. He was so lucky to have such a loving family to love and care for him on his journey.
RIP Ledger ♥
