UPDATE
3/11/20: UPDATE: Because we think Lucey is such a wonderful girl, we decided to send her to a week of residental training to perfect her skills, reduce her excitement and temper her enthusiasm. She is doing fantastically, and we are so proud of her progress.
2/23/2020: Lucey is a strong girl, but responds well to direction. She knows several commands, just needs reminders and with consistency, she will fall right in place. She does well walking on a leash and she just loves her walks. Although she may initially appear excitable, she quickly calms done and is really a sweetheart.
Gorgeous Lucey was originally adopted when she was 1.5 (two years ago- so now 3.5), but the family’s situation has changed significantly and they were no longer able to properly care for Lucey, so she came back to CLR. They had three children 12 and under who adored her, and she was a wonderful companion for the kids. They freely admitted that they did not devote time to her training. She is a strong girl and needs guidance along with an established routine. She knows to follow a sit command, is very observant and smart, responds to “Bed Time, Lucey”. She is completely housetrained and will go to the door when she needs to potty and is great around people. She is very loving and her temperament is excellent when relaxed, she just needs to contain some of her excitement. Since she has the tendency to be somewhat dominant, we believe the best home would be with a more submissive dog or as the only dog in the home. Consistent leadership will work wonders for Lucy- the component that was missing in her previous home.
