Markley – ADOPTED

Every now and again, a dog arrives that literally takes our breath away.  At 21 months Markley is that dog!  He is absolutely beautiful with a disposition to match. He’s a large lab, calm and loving.  Markley was originally surrendered to a shelter when his family lost their home.

He was quickly adopted but recently came back after a few months. We were told he growled at their other dog and the family thought it was best for him to come back. When we are not present to witness and event, it is very difficult for us to access a situation. In order to know how to best move forward, we brought in our trainer to do a complete temperament test and evaluation.  She did everything imaginable to find a trigger including testing him with a very hyper dog.  Markley was a perfect gentleman and did not react to any triggers and even shared his treats with the other dog.  After several minutes of the other dog jumping all over Markley, he did give a low growl, which is actually a normal reaction.  He was attempting to tell the other dog, “Okay, I’ve had enough”.  Dogs have limited means of communicating and this is a frequent way of sharing how they feel.  Markley may be an easier addition to a home without other pets.  Yet, he would be fine in a home with other dogs as long as the new family knew how to correct any undesirable behavior and demonstrated leadership.

We truly think Markley is a spectacular dog and want him to find the perfect family that will understand his needs and appreciates this wonderful boy.
