Although Ryder was surrender to us, we commend the family for wanting the very best for this wonderful dog. They tried to help Ryder when they learned someone was considering sending him to the shelter. Unfortunately, the current family dogs were not happy with another addition. While he was in their care, they did everything conceivable to help him learn his manners. Ryder is only 7 months old and currently weighs 60 pounds. He already knows to sit and to give his paw. He waits for his food to be served and is housetrained. He is super intelligent and a willing learner who wants to please. He pulls on a leash but adding a prong collar for his walks makes all the difference. According to his family, he’s the Best dog in the car and sits like a perfect gentleman. He does the same when out in public too. It’s amazing he does so well, because he has been shuffled around to different homes. He doesn’t like to be crated but will settle down. He just needs to learn that his crate is a good and safe place.
Since he’s a puppy, he needs sufficient exercise to burn off his energy and LOVES, LOVES his ball. He responds well to correction and with additional training, structure and consistency, he’ll be a dream dog. He does well with small children and even with his energy, he still enjoys some good cuddle time with his people. We are so appreciative that this family devoted so much time to help Ryder, and we promised we would find him a wonderful family.
