Shadowboy is as close to a canine genius as we’ve ever met. At five years of age, he has mastered so many commands and his vocabulary is surprisingly impressive. His accomplishments include:
Sit Five (not shake) Down (for lay down) Up- (he’ll jump) bring a hand up Speak Shh Quiet- works best with shh and finger in front of your mouth Stay/come Count-say number and depending on the number of fingers held up then taking hand down, he’ll bark that many times Go to bed- will go in his crate Get your toy- he’ll even go outside to find and grab a toy he brought out with him.
Apparently, at one point, valuable time was devoted to him and likely needs sufficient exercise and stimulation to keep his brain active. The owner said she no longer had time to devote to him. Additonally, she The described him as a smart, affectionate companion animal who loves other dogs and human attention. He was surrendered because he is stressed during fireworks and thunderstorms. The stress when left alone produced some frantic behavior. We do not know if he was crated while being left alone under these conditions. He is likely very confused with such a dramatic change in his life, but considering his gifts, we presume he will teach all of us a thing or two.
