Trott Nixon

This memorial is, without question, one of the most difficult.  Trott was undeniably one of the most wonderful and unforgettable labs.  He was a huge presence who touched so many lives and was such an integral part of his family. So many are saddened by his passing, but nobody’s words express this fabulous dog’s personality and life like his mom, Erin, who was inspired by Trott to become involved with rescue. Erin ultimately established and has been the executive director of CLR since it’s inception. Trott’s family is devastated and so many will feel the loss of this amazing dog.

In Erin’s heartfelt words:

Trott was found as a stray puppy running down the middle of the road in Athens, Ohio, over 12 years ago. My family had the good fortune of rescuing this lost soul. Our lives were just as changed as his was from day one. He kept us smiling until his very last day with his irresistible eyes, big head & larger than life character. Trott opened up his heart to his brother Oliver Twist who was completely broken. Together, they embraced life & were able to help raise our two daughters for over 9 years.

Trott was my shadow so I pray he will now watch over me (and my family) as I’m completely lost.

He was a superior athlete (the best dock diver & ball fetcher ever) in his younger years, fierce protector of his family, was in love with tennis balls and his red Kong & won over all people with his deep eyes & gentle character…truly one of a kind. Trott embodied every beautiful trait of a Lab but it was mostly his unmatched loving, loyal, affectionate & goofy personality. All of our neigbors, UPS drivers and mailman would stop to throw him his ball from the street. He had them all trained. 😉

Trott is also the reason for my involvement with rescue. Thank you boy for starting my journey. You symbolize the innate beauty of dogs & have taught many of us so much about life.

Rest In Peace Trott Nixon. You took a piece of our hearts with you that will never be replaced. I’ll see you over the Bridge my boy. 💔

♥ RIP Trott ♥  May 15, 2019
