Two-year-old Callie originally came to CLR several months ago completely shut down and fearful. This beautiful girl, smaller pup at less than 40 pounds, has come so far and her family has shared everything wonderful about her. Unfortunately, they came to the conclusion they didn’t have time to devote to a dog and have decided she would benefit from being part of a family that was more available and committed to having a furry family member.
Callie remains a little timid and somewhat hesitant when meeting new people, and she is startled by strange noises. Like most dogs, she responds well to a soft voice and kindness. She looks forward to her walks, is good on a leash, and enjoys a pleasant stroll. She doesn’t bark at anyone approaching but continues along without any distractions. She likes longing in her home and is low energy- she naps comfortably during the day, especially outside in the sun, and sleeps well at night. That doesn’t mean she doesn’t enjoy a good romp in her yard and is aware of other critters that pass by. She plays well with other dogs and has only been exposed to older children and connects beautifully with them. She has learned several commands: sit, stay, wait, potty, and uh-uh.
Even though she feels safe in small places, she adores being with her people and is a little shadow. She is great at giving hugs and kisses, relishes a good tummy rub, and a good scratch under her chin. Callie has a calm temperament and is a true pleaser. Although she will need to reestablish a sense of security in her new home, the final result will be having a wonderful companion who just wants to be loved.
