Meet Inky! He is a 2 year old, 50lb black lab mix that was surrendered after his owner went to hospice and could no longer care for him.
Personality: Inky is a happy, friendly black Lab mix who loves attention and companionship. He gets along great with other dogs and enjoys being part of the action. Inky is playful, social, and has a joyful energy that shines through when he’s running around (he “runs like a deer!”). He does great with other dogs and humans of all sizes. He is a total lovebug who wants to curl up and snuggle.
Training: Inky is house trained and good on a leash. He’s smart, eager to please, and responds well to structure and consistency. While he can jump very high—he’s managed to get over a 6-foot kennel run—he’s not trying to escape; he just wants to join in when the other dogs are playing. He’s gentle when he jumps up for attention and is learning to keep all four paws on the ground.

What we love about Inky!
Biggest love bug around. He has not met a stranger and especially loves kids. His favorite activity is to cuddle on the couch and get as close as possible to get all the snuggles.
Super playful: He loves to run and retrieve balls or chase his furry foster sibling. Every chance he gets he brings us tennis balls and looks at us so expectantly….
So incredible smart: He is an incredible quick learning. He has caught on to all the habits and routines in the house; his recall is amazing and he is starting to learn all his commands. He is getting trained on the e-collar so he can live in a house with an invisible fence.
So athletic: he is fast and agile. He can make the quickest turns when he is playing chase with my chocolate lab. He can also jump high and would win the doggy Olympics if we enrolled him.
The best sleeper: He goes in his crate at 10PM and won’t give a peep till 8AM. He is such an amazing snoozer!
He is funny: he is a big wiggler and so happy to see us when we come home. He makes us laugh every day.
Best walking buddy: He lives for his walks and can go for miles without skipping a beat.
Inky is so ready for his forever home. If you are looking for a love bug to compliment your active lifestyle – apply for Inky.
Inky is just the best little guy. He is happy, goofball and makes us laugh out loud every day. He is housebroken, kid tested, dog friendly and loves all people he meets.
He LOVES his people fiercely and LIVES for cuddles. He literally crawls into your lap to get as close as possible. Has mastered the labby lean like a pro and will get you to pet him whether you are ready or not. He looks at you with his beautiful soulful eyes and you just can’t say no. He is an incredible love bug! He will never get enough and would love on you all day if you let him.
He LOVES to run and be chased by his foster sibling. He is super speedy and makes the quickest turns while looking over his shoulder with a big grin seemingly saying: “Catch me if you can” ! He equally loves to play fetch and brings the ball back like a pro. Dropping the ball is still a work in progress though – but he is happy running forever with a ball in his mouth after his labby friends who have mastered the fetch game. It is the exercise that counts – right?
The crate is still a work in progress. He is amazing in the crate in our bedroom and sleeps 10 hours without a peep. When we are not close by – he is less of a fan of being locked up especially since his foster sister is not crated. We have however left him and his foster sister alone in the house for ~3H stretches without crating with no issues.
He has amazing hunting instincts and walks with his nose held high or on the ground to sniff out all the wild life. He is not a barker. He will occasionally sound a little howl (do we detect a little beagle in this guy?) especially when he sees a squirrel or another dog he would like to say hello to.
We started to train him on an ecollar and his recall is amazing. He does need a lot of exercise – ideally with a daily game of fetch. He is THE best walking or running partner and can go for hours!
Inky would love an active family who will get him running and hiking. Another playful furry foster sibling would make the deal even sweeter. He is just so ready for his forever home!!
