Meet Niles! He is a 2 year old, 62lb yellow lab that was surrendered to a shelter after his owners didn’t have time for him.
Personality: Niles is your classic playful Lab—friendly, social, and full of adventure. He enjoys the company of both people and pups and would thrive in a home that gives him plenty of exercise and attention. He is good with other dogs but no cats. He sometimes gets protective over his food, so a family willing to work patiently with him on sharing and boundaries will help him feel safe and successful.
Training : Like many young Labs, Niles is still working on polishing his manners. He is improving on the leash—he walks best in a harness and just needs continued practice to become a reliable walking buddy. He is smart, treat-motivated, and ready to learn with a consistent routine. With training, structure, and love, he’s going to be an incredible companion.
Updates
Niles has only been at my home for 4 days but he has already settled in very well. He’s still a bit of a puppy and might get the zoomies when playing with his squeaky toy or fetching sticks but otherwise has been calm. He is not a fan of his crate and will bark a while when in there but because we are still learning about each other, I’m not quite ready to let him roam the house when I’m not home.
He loves our walks at the Nature Center. Niles often keeps his nose to the ground taking in all the smells so sometimes goes side to side but he doesn’t pull and is easy to handle.
We are working on commands, he knows “sit”, we are working on “down “. Needs some redirection when attempting to counter surf.
No accidents in the house. Loves ear rubs and likes to cuddle. He’s a good boy, will make a good companion.
