We were so saddened to learn about Bexley’s passing. He was still so young and valiantly tried to fight cancer and bravely held on for his family for 8 months. Our words cannot begin to match his family’s devotion to this wonderful boy, so we prefer to share their loving tribute.
When we met Bexley on January 31, 2015, it was love at first sight. He immediately leaned into us and I said “I think I’m in love”. Everyone loved him from then on, and he leaned into them too. He was one of the sweetest and gentlest dogs I’ve ever known. He walked perfectly on a leash from day one, and he stayed right with me in our yard, even if another dog was nearby – and with no extra training! And I don’t know if I’ve ever met a dog more gorgeous from his smooth, soft fur or his sleek, powerful muscles; but nothing compares to how his eyes were a greenish color with a light blue rim around the pupil. Bexley was only 3 1/2 when he was diagnosed with cancer. My heart was broken, but we moved forward, and he certainly surpassed his prognosis. We tried to enjoy every day to its fullest with him. One way of doing that were the daily morning walks he and I took. It was our special time, and I’ll always think of him when I walk that path. We miss him so much, but it was time for him to find peace and relief. We said goodbye on August 12, but are moving forward by remembering all the healthy, energetic excitable moments. And now, he can meet our other beloved dogs, Quinn & Abby, across the Rainbow Bridge.
