CLR COVID-19 Announcement

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

Thank you for completing an application to foster or adopt a dog with Cincinnati Lab Rescue.  We want to share the following important update regarding the current process and timeline for adoption, as it has been significantly affected by COVID-19.

First, I want to thank you for your interest in helping a homeless Lab.  Cincinnati Lab Rescue has received far more applications during the COVID-19 crisis than we could have expected, and we are overwhelmed with your support.

Second, I want to advise you of our current process:

  1. During the early weeks of the COVID-19 crisis, we had a significant increase in adoption applications. Our application rate has returned to normal, and we’ve worked through that backlog, so approval time is also back to normal (typically 2 weeks or less). However, we currently have a larger than normal number of approved adopters waiting to adopt. Given that, we are unable to inform you exactly when we will be able to schedule an adoption appointment.
  2. Current social distancing restrictions have affected how our appointments are conducted.  Until these restrictions relax, we are limiting the number of dogs in each appointment.  We will help you to identify dogs that might be compatible.  This is a process that you and CLR volunteers will work through together, as our goal remains consistent: to find each dog’s forever home.

Sadly, we do expect that when things return to normal, we will see a surge in the overpopulation of homeless pets.  We also expect that the economic effects of this pandemic will cause more families to be unable to care for their pets.  Cincinnati Lab Rescue will remain committed to these dogs, and we are very grateful for your continued interest and support.

Sincerely,

Erin Skie
