UPDATE
6/7/20 UPDATE: This wonderful boy just joined his foster family and the first words shared were, “I love, love, love him!” When we learned the vets discovered buckshot during his neuter procedure, we were beyond distressed. Yes, we are repeatedly shocked, appalled, and heartbroken – the good feelings return when we know we get to change a future and erase a horrible past. Our goal is to let Augey settle for a little while in his foster home and recover from his surgery. Next up will be the very best home for this beautiful boy.
We often do not get a complete history of a dog when surrendered, but this time the minimal information we received was accurate when his owners said they didn’t have time for him. It seems apparent that he did not receive very much care or attention. Although most of the physical neglect appears superficial, he definitely deserves to experience life in a loving home. He’s a beautiful boy who has not had the benefit during his 3 years to be pampered or given the attention needed to thrive. He is somewhat hesitant in new situations, but not fearful around people. He craves attention and petting and takes treats very gently. He has a very calm disposition and perks up and was calm and friendly when he met several other dogs. After a good bath and basic vetting, we imagine he will be ready to join his forever family, and we can’t wait to see the light return to his beautiful eyes.
