Meet Duke!  He is a 1 year old, 80lb black lab.  He originally arrived to CLR as a puppy and he was recently returned.  He does not do well in a household with small children.

Personality:  Duke is a fun-loving, energetic young Lab who thrives on companionship and play. He adores his people and wants nothing more than to be part of your daily life—whether it’s going for a walk, a ride in the car, or a good game of fetch. He is full of life, loves to play, and enjoys spending time both indoors and outdoors. Duke also gets along well with other dogs and would love an active family who can match his enthusiasm and offer plenty of engagement and attention. While he’s affectionate, Duke is best suited to a home without young children.

Training:  Duke is crate trained, housebroken, and walks well on a leash. He successfully completed Off Leash K9 Training’s obedience program and knows most basic commands. His obedience training has laid a strong foundation for continued structure and consistency.

Duke will do best with an experienced and confident adult handler who can maintain the structure he’s learned and continue building his confidence and trust. He is a loyal and bright dog who wants to please!

Updates

Duke is a gorgeous and very sweet boy. He is very affectionate and loves to cuddle. All he wants, is to be with his people. He is a real love bug!
Duke is an amazing swimmer.  We took him to the nature center where he had the opportunity to swim in a creek and he did amazing! He loved it so much. He also loves to retrieve balls. He is very fast and brings the ball back and drops it perfectly. A real retriever pro!
He gets along with other dogs and people very well. He does however not have a lot of confidence. This can occasionally make him a little protective of his space and his toys. For that reason, we believe he’s best in a house without little children Who might not understand his cues.
Overall, he is just gorgeous and so well mannered. He is completely house trained, sleeps in his crate and does not chew on anything he’s not supposed to.
He would do great with a family that would take him on walks and maybe for an occasional swim and where he gets lots of attention. He does not love being home alone for long periods of time
