Meet Inky!  He is a 2 year old, 50lb black lab mix that was surrendered after his owner went to hospice and could no longer care for him.

Personality:  Inky is a happy, friendly black Lab mix who loves attention and companionship. He gets along great with other dogs and enjoys being part of the action.  Inky is playful, social, and has a joyful energy that shines through when he’s running around (he “runs like a deer!”). He would do best with a playful canine friend and older kids who can match his enthusiasm. When it’s just him and his foster, he’s a total lovebug who wants to curl up and be a lap dog.

Training:  Inky is house trained and good on a leash. He’s smart, eager to please, and responds well to structure and consistency. While he can jump very high—he’s managed to get over a 6-foot kennel run—he’s not trying to escape; he just wants to join in when the other dogs are playing. He’s gentle when he jumps up for attention and is learning to keep all four paws on the ground. With regular exercise and continued positive reinforcement, Inky will be an easy and rewarding companion.

Updates

Inky is incredibly friendly and playful with everyone in the family and always ready to share his happy energy. He loves his walks (no surprise there!) and we’ve started working on a few commands like “heel.”  He’s also sleeping through the night like a champ in an enclosed room.

Inky still has that big, goofy puppy energy—he can be a little too playful with other dogs at times, so we’re helping him learn to respect their boundaries. He’s not crate trained but making progress. Overall, he’s such a happy, loving boy who’s making progress!
