Meet Jarvis, a 10-month-old black lab mix with a heartbreaking story.  He was abandoned by his family and found tied to the door of a Mississippi shelter.  Despite his challenging past, he hasn’t lost his spirit.  He is an incredibly sweet and affectionate pup.  He is great with other dogs and loves human attention.

Jarvis is still a puppy and has some energy to match.  He is playful and spirited and is still learning the ropes.

We can’t wait to find him his forever family!

Updates

Jarvis has went into a board and train today!   Cincinnati Lab Rescue partners with local trainers to help teach our dogs basic training and prepare them for their forever home.  Jarvis was the perfect candidate due to his focus and intelligence.  He is absolutely thriving!  After one day, he is already learning the basics….sit, place, stay.  He is such a great boy!

More updates to come!

Jarvis has completed a few days of his training program.  Wowza!  He is one smart dog!  He has learned sit, place, and is now working on off leash distance recall.  He is absolutely thriving!!

Jarvis has graduated from 1 week of training and WOW – he is a SUPER STAR!!!  He has been in our house for 1 day only and we are just amazed. He is such a well- behaved little guy. He learned how to control his emotions, does not jump up (or if he does is easily corrected), will sit at the door before running outside, comes on command and will sit right in front of you, and knows how to stay on a dog bed till you release him. He truly is AMAZING. He only learned these skills in the past week so he will need consistent training to keep up this good work.  He has been trained with the e-collar and it is important that the new owner will be very consistent with this training method. He has lots of energy as he is a young lab so will need lost of exercise. He is SOOOO smart and so eager to please and learn.

He is a super sweet and very affectionate. He gets along great with our chocolate lab and loves to play. He loves to chew on hard bones as well as softer toys.  He will try to do some counter surfing but when corrected immediately stops. I have not seen any destructive behavior although he still needs to learn that dog toys on the floor are OK (but shoes are not).  He catches on quickly and immediately drops the shoe when told to do so.

In the park he loves to sniff – he walks with his nose to the ground like a true lab. He was very happy to meet other dogs in the park and stayed very calm even when 2 off leash dogs ran up to him unexpectedly. We started retrieving tennis balls which he liked. He was exposed to older kids in his training family and did amazing with them. He has not been exposed to little kids yet.

This little guy truly is a gem. He will be an amazing addition to any family that is committed to his training and providing plenty of exercise
