6/22/2021 UPDATE: Java arrived safely to CLR a few days ago. Check back soon for an update!
My name’s Java! I’m 1.5 years old and weigh 46lbs. I’m a Lab/Boxer mix….or as the folks at CLR like to call me: a Boxador! I’m a sweet, polite, calm boy who’s ready for my forever family!
Java comes to CLR as a stray from Jackson County, TN. He has the cutest underbite that makes him look like he’s pouting at all times, but we’re sure he’s actually quite happy to be here in Cincinnati! Java’s face lights up when he sees kids. During transport, he was across the street from a preschool. They asked one of our volunteers to bring Java over, and he was absolutely perfect with the children.
Java is a total cuddle bug who loves, loves, loves attention! We had a chance to introduce him to some of his rescue peers, and he was such a good boy! He loved meeting new friends, and you can tell he wanted to play with everyone he met. He walks well on a leash, and even seems to know some of his basic commands. Java rode perfect in the car on his way to Cincinnati. He jumped right in without hesitation and loved watching the world go by!
Medical Note: Java is Heartworm positive. Unfortunately, CLR treats a staggering number of rescues for Heartworm each year, which is why we require all dogs be kept up-to-date on year-round Heartworm prevention. Java can still go home with you and your family, but will need to continue to be seen for treatment and lay low while he’s on the mend.
