Meet Wonderboy Winston, a charming 7-month-old Lab with a heart as sweet as his chocolate coat. Winston finds himself in search of a new forever home.  He was surrendered by his previous owner due to a busy schedule.

Name: Wonderboy Winston
Age: 7 months
Breed: Chocolate Lab

Personality: Despite his recent life changes, Winston remains a happy and bouncy boy! He’s a puppy at heart, and he has a playful personality to match.  He loves to play with toys and is always up for an adventure!

Training and Habits: Winston is still a puppy but he has made lots of progress on his training.  He knows most of the basics….yay!   He is almost completely housetrained and will go to the door to be let out.  Winston is also crate trained and loves car rides.

Wonderboy Winston is looking for a loving home that can provide him with the attention and care he deserves. A family or individual who appreciates the joy and energy a young pup brings would be a perfect match. Winston’s adaptable nature makes him suitable for various living situations, and he would thrive in a home that can offer him playtime and a lots of love!

Updates

Winston has arrived into a foster home!  Here is a “first day” update….

Winston is a sweet boy!  It looks like he knows some of the basics.  He is crate trained and goes into the crate with the command “home.” I do have to lead him to the crate, though all that entails is a treat in my hand and he willingly follows me.

He knows sit and down; still working on figuring out what other commands he knows. He also takes treats really nicely!

He is intermittently interested in my cat, but not aggressive. The other two have been in hiding, so not sure how he’d react toward a more reactive cat.

More to come as I get to know him!

So Winston has been with me for almost 48 hours now.  He is very happy boy who aims to please.  He gets along great with both my dogs and has been great with my cats.

He goes willing into crate. He will share his opinion about being crated, particularly during the day. I’ve had a couple appointments that had me out of the house for a few hours and while he was sharing his dissatisfaction of being crated as I was leaving, he was silent when I got home.  Reuben being in the crate next to him does seem to help and he is improving with being crated overnight.

Speaking of overnight, he does just fine all night; hasn’t needed a midnight potty break and he’s had no accidents in his crate.

I’ve yet to figure out what toys he enjoys beyond an occasional Nyla-bone.  Mostly he just wants to be with me or wrestle with Reuben.

He is a very active, athletic dog; however, he doesn’t really understand the concept of personal space or his size. He does a lot of leaping around, sometimes right next to me.  However he has not actually jumped on me and recently started the front paws bounce when excited.

He is food and treat motivated so he should be easy to train and to reinforce desired behaviors.

He is a great dog! He’d do well with a family; he might bump smaller children over, but I would expect that be a short term issue. He would do well with another dog or would be happy as an only dog. He is a pretty easy-going guy.

I took him for a walk this afternoon; he did well, but needs some work with pulling on the leash.  He is a puppy though, so he is still learning. He was friendly with everyone and did not react to any dogs while on the walk; in fact he wanted to be friends with everyone.  He’s such a great dog!
