4/8/2021 UPDATE: Beau arrived safely to CLR two days ago. Check back soon for an update!
My name’s Beau! I’m two years old, and in case you can’t already tell by my ears, I’m a Lab/Shepard mix. I love everyone and everything. I’m just an all-around happy boy! The folks at Cincinnati Lab Rescue keep saying that if my ears didn’t stand straight up I’d be the most PERFECT Lab there ever was.
Beau was abandoned by his original owners who left him behind when they moved. A kind, older neighbor took Beau in and loved him as his own. The neighbor is unfortunately aging and no longer had the physical stamina needed to give Beau the exercise he deserves. An incredible volunteer stepped up and drove over 9 hours round trip to get this boy to Cincinnati. Here’s some of the wonderful feedback she shared after spending time with Beau:
Beau loves his ball. He tosses it and noses at it if you don’t move quickly enough to throw it back. He LOVES fetch!
He’s a champ in the car! He rides great and loads right up. As soon as the car is in drive he lays right down.
Beau doesn’t know a stranger. His tail is ALWAYS wagging! He went to the dog park and did exceptionally well.
He knows “Sit”, “Shake”, “Down”, and “Roll”. Such a smart boy!
Thus far, Beau has been submissive towards cats and friendly with other dogs. This boy has not been intentionally neglected. He is loved and is SO loveable. It’s an honor to be able to rehome this special honorary Lab!
Medical Note: Beau tested positive for heartworm and will begin treatment on 4/15. Unfortunately, CLR treats a staggering number of dogs for heartworm each year, which is why we require that all dogs be kept up-to-date on heartworm prevention. Beau can still go home with you and your family, but will need to continue to see the vet for treatment and lay low while he’s on the mend.
